Legend of the Cup Series: Books 1 & 2

Cup of the Shining Sun
In 1974, Askara Timlen lands the opportunity of a lifetime when she is sent on a buying trip to Africa to purchase Ethiopian heirloom jewelry. At Jubilee Palace, she views the emperor’s collection. She holds his prized possession, a small bronze cup that wields immense power for good or evil, depending on who possesses it. Upon leaving the palace Askara discovers someone has smuggled the precious cup into her bag, to steal it from the emperor…

Exit Visa
In 1975, Askara Timlen wins a journalism contest to report on a sacred ceremony in Madagascar called Walking the Dead. A family honors their ancestor by exhuming the corpse, wrapping the remains in a new silk shroud, and reburying him. But the family accuses Askara of a severe taboo, photographing their ancestor’s face. The distraught ancestor wedges open the spirit door to NoTime, a world guarded by Madagascar’s mythical Kalanoro people. Caught between feuding factions, a Catholic church monsignor, and the most influential family in Madagascar, each with secrets to hide, Askara plays a dangerous game. She must secure her exit visa before the spirit door closes at the new moon. Time is running out.

Veil of Protection by Dyan Dubois, the final book in her captivating trilogy, once again weaves together myth and history in a magical way. The past settings and well-developed characters are revisited. The suspense and mystery surrounding the formidable heroine Askara kept me reading long after bedtime. If you enjoy vivid locales and realistic characters full of mystery and intrigue, this is your escape from the daily grind. - Connie LaCroix
Veil of Protection: So totally great to have a three-book spiritual adventure to read. There are so few, and this trilogy is a delight. Dubois has a knack for drawing her readers into her books. I love the way the story winds the reader through foreign lands as she weaves a tale of good versus evil. Her descriptions of a country, the people, and their customs are authentic and often quite seductive. - Jan Weir
